Motivational Speakers - Patrick Musimu MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER: PATRICK MUSIMU

"Nothing is absolute. Redefine concepts, redefine yourself. Barriers are in your mind. Accept No Limits." Patrick Musimu’s leitmotiv has become a worldwide inspiration. In June 2005, free diving world record holder Patrick Musimu redefined the human limits. Challenging rigid concepts and dogmas he broke human mental barriers and became the first man to dive to 200 metres on a single breath of air. Born in Kinshasa, Congo (R.D.C), in 1970, author, Sports Event manager, physiotherapist and martial art expert, Patrick Musimu discovered breath-hold diving at the age of 28. Since then he has been said to have revolutionised the sport and its preparations.

Patrick taught himself to swim at the age of 10. At the age of 28, he packed everything up and went to the Caribbean to become a diver. It was the first time he ever saw the blue sea. When he dove in, he had the shock of his life- the water was salty!

In 1999, following a self-made training programme Patrick Musimu started training in the 4°C chilling water of Belgian quarries. A year later, he was nothing but a world class free diver breaking his first world records.

In June 2005, after a last intake of air, 4-times world record holder Patrick Musimu immersed himself beneath the surface – no mask, no air tank. He ended up shattering the deepest human performance registered by almost 40 metres in warm waters off the coast of Egypt. His record stands at 209,6 metres (692 feet) - deeper than the length of a football field or, to put it in some perspective, a depth almost 30m below that which Type XXIII German U-boats could safely submerge to during the Second World War.

“The Ultimate Dive”, as he named this diving project, caught scientists and underwater experts by surprise. Even the industry was not expecting such a dive to take place so that a unique customized dive computer had to be produced! Decades ago scientists believed that no human could ever perform a free dive to a depth below 50m. Even when that barrier was broken, only the most tentative steps were taken to see how much further the sport could go. Patrick Musimu walked into that atmosphere, and proceeded to trample over the sport’s core beliefs. Why? He is a man with almost mythical beliefs in the ability and adaptability of the human body. “Deep breath-hold diving is the perfect demonstration of what can be achieved when we accept to open our minds to new possibilities.” says Patrick.

“The brain is the ultimate muscle; you can train it and programme it for success.”

What this unique presentation will bring to your organisation is an out of the ordinary opportunity to motivate and educate your teams to not only see outside the box but to think outside the box. Supported by exclusive emotional footage of his adventures, Patrick Musimu’s story inspires as it demonstrates that achievements are merely a matter of “Emotional Performance”.
