SPEAKER: JENNIE BOND
After graduating from Warwick University with an Honours degree
in French, Jennie Bond worked as a reporter with the Richmond Herald
and the Evening Mail.
In 1977 she joined BBC radio, writing and editing the national news.
She also worked as a producer on Woman's Hour, as editor on International
Assignment and on a light entertainment show with Noel Edmonds called
The Time of Your Life. She became a reporter on national radio news
in 1986.
For three years she presented the Today Programme on Radio Four
on a regular basis.
With Sue MacGregor she formed the first female team to present the
programme, a fact that merited space in the national press.
In 1988 she joined BBC television news as a general reporter. She
covered many major events, including the return of all of the hostages
from Beirut, and the air disaster in Lockerbie.
Jennie Bond became Court Correspondent in 1989. She has covered
all the major stories involving the Royal Family for eight years,
including tours to most parts of the world.
Since 1991 she has combined work as a correspondent with a prominent
role as a presenter of BBC Television news bulletins. She is a regular
presenter of the Six O'Clock News and Breakfast News.
